Update and Thanks from Duncan

If you are a current/recent customer of SilverPan Film Lab please find details on what this news means for you here

I have been immensely proud of all the work that has been put into SilverPan Film Lab over the past 6 years. It has been a real labour of love for me, with both joy and personal sacrifices; from starting out in my home darkroom with a real passion and knowledge but minimal equipment; to setting up and running a successful photography shop in Bristol which became a hub for the local photographic community.

I hope that we did achieve what I set out to do from the start – Provide a uniquely personal lab service, with offerings and choices that other labs did not provide, building up a reputation for ultra-high quality scanning, friendly and helpful service and exacting attention to detail in regards to film development.

Acquisition by Analogue Wonderland in June 2023 was with the hope of a new exciting chapter for the lab with plans for greater outreach in the community, building on their excellent knowledge and ability in this area and streamlining of some of the outdated admin processes we faced behind the scenes.

Sadly though, it has become apparent that our uniquely hands-on detailed approach to the lab, coupled with various infrastructure issues at the shop, meant that the site was no longer viable - despite the hard work and huge efforts of everyone involved.

I’d like to give my heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful customers I have engaged with over the years, I have made a lot of friends and had so many interesting conversations and chats about all things analogue photography. Your custom over the years kept this whole thing afloat for so long, and I’m extremely grateful.

I’d also like to thank everyone who has worked with me over the years, or helped out in the shop and with customer service; Justine, Will, Maisie, John, Katrina, Alex, Harry, and Teresa your talents and friendship were always appreciated! Thank you also to everyone from the wider Analogue Wonderland team who have individually put so much of their time and effort into the business.

Unfortunately we have not been able to find a role for me that made sense within Analogue Wonderland in High Wycombe to carry on the work going forward, and so I am parting company.

Although I will not be personally involved in any AW or SilverPan branded service or venture in future, I wish Paul and his team all the best.

I would love to keep in touch with you all, sorry if I have not been able to see or respond to emails over the past weeks as I have been on gardening leave.

I would dearly like to put to use my skills within the analogue photography industry, and so any offers for work, proposals or just friendly conversation can be directed to:

All the best,
Duncan
